Fainting can be a fairly common occurrence, but nonetheless it is concerning to see someone collapse in front of you with no warning. It is critical to know what to do.
Reason for Fainting
Sudden drop in blood pressure
Emotional Shock
Standing in one spot for a long period of time
Hot day and lack of water intake
Early stages of pregnancy
First Aid – Follow DRS ABCD
Lay the person on their side
Open the person’s airway
Check that the person is breathing
Allow the person time to recover and encourage them to stay laying down
Sit them up slowly once recovered
Call an Ambulance immediately if the person does not regain consciousness
