Fainting First Aid

Fainting can be a fairly common occurrence, but nonetheless it is concerning to see someone collapse in front of you with no warning. It is critical to know what to do.

 

Reason for Fainting

  •       Sudden drop in blood pressure
  •       Emotional Shock  
  •       Standing in one spot for a long period of time
  •       Hot day and lack of water intake
  •       Early stages of pregnancy

First Aid – Follow DRS ABCD

  •       Lay the person on their side
  •       Open the person’s airway
  •       Check that the person is breathing
  •       Allow the person time to recover and encourage them to stay laying down
  •       Sit them up slowly once recovered

Call an Ambulance immediately if the person does not regain consciousness
